A New Addition!

We decided to wait until Father’s Day and give our fathers cards announcing the new addition first, but now that each of them hopefully have opened their cards I will post it here.  We are expecting child #5 due on Dec. 17 which means we are about 3 1/2 months along.  I will try to keep the blog updated with everything going with the new one.  We don’t know what it is yet but I did have an ultrasound and she could only find one, thank goodness.  Here is the first ultrasound at about 11 weeks.

Rat Fink

For those of you that don’t know about Rat Fink, there was a guy named Ed Roth that designed some crazy cars and did a lot of pin striping.  I am sure that is more but that is the basic.  If you want to more follow the link.  Anyway he moved to Manti while I was in high school and married a lady that my parents knew from work.  When I married Cortney I found out that Cortney loves Ed’s work.  Then he died a year or so after we got married.  Each year his wife has a reunion with pin stripers, a parade and a car show.  We take the kids every year and usually get Rat Fink t-shirts.  Here are some pics from the car show.

Dylan and Max

About two weeks ago Ashton and the twins were downstairs watching cartoons while I tried to get dinner done.  Dylan had come upstairs but I hadn’t seen or heard from him in about 5 minutes(bad sign). So I went looking for him and this is what I found.  The book is a phonebook.reading the phonebook to Max 001

Hair!

So as of lately all of my son’s hair has been bothering me.  We get it cut and then it seems like a week later it is sticking out everywhere and takes longer to comb down flat then it does to do Caitlin’s hair curly.  Well Cortney buzzed his head about two weeks ago and I told him that I wanted the boys buzzed too.  I think that he thought I was kidding because he never did it.  After dinner yesterday we had some down time with nothing to do so I told the boys to get upstairs and I would buzz their heads like dad.  That got Cortney’s attention and he told me that he would do it and I told him fine it will be done now either by you or me, I don’t care which.  Poor Caitlin wanted her head buzzed too but I told her that girls had long hair. Even this morning she was still bitter about it and wanted her hair buzzed. There are some before, during, and after pics from each boy.  In Dylan’s after pic, he isn’t crying that is his big smile. I think Dylan’s is the funniest because his hair is so blond that now it looks like he doesn’t have any.  And it was great to be able to get out the door this morning and only have to worry about Caitlin’s hair.

Scandinavian Days

For those of you that aren’t from Ephriam, the Saturday before Memorial Day Ephraim has a celebration called Scandinavian Days.  When I was little it was always that weekend that my parents couldn’t wait to get out of town.  There are a lot of artsy people selling everything from hair bows and t-shirts to this year I saw someone who had taken plastic character lunch boxes and made them into floor lamps.  There is also food, a parade, and some little kids rides.  The kids have enjoyed going to the parade and this year my grandparents, Aunt Judy(from Lousiana) and my Aunt Trish came down and went to the parade with us.  We scored a ton of candy and still have most of it left.  After the parade we went up to the festival and went on some of the bouncy rides.  In previous years I have indulged my kids in one “stupid” toy to play with but this year I decide to just let them to a couple of the rides and call it good.  Then we headed to my mom’s house for some famous Roy’s Pizza with the extended family.  While we were there my sister, Sarah called and said that they were in Sterling and would be to mom’s house in about 15 minutes.  We had so much fun later that day with Sarah, Jake and Ethan being up.  We borrowed my Aunt Carol’s 4 wheeler and Matthew’s 4 wheeler and then we had a 4 wheeler that Cortney and Ashton had fixed up and got running again.  We played on those until the rain came and then we ate dinner and played more inside games.  On Monday Cortney got to do some stuff around the house and we visited my mom and dad’s recreational lot and the kids ran around.  It was a great weekend.  Enjoy the pics from the festival.

A Day Out With Thomas!

Last year we promised Ashton that we would go to Thomas the Train in Heber City this year, partly because it would be the last year that half of our family would be able to ride for free. Well funny how things never work out for us. Thomas changed the ages from 2 and under for free to 2 and up for 16.00 so we had to pay for everyone but Dylan. I felt bad spending so much money but we had been talking about for awhile and I decided that since the kids had been cleaning Cortney’s office when the regular cleaning lady was out of town that they could use part of that money to pay for their tickets. I had hoped that it would be a teaching tool that we have to save up our money to do special stuff like Thomas Well it was the Friday after Ashton’s graduation and before Memorial Day. Cortney took the day off and we left Ephraim at 8:30 am so we could make our 11:15 am train ride. We got to Heber and had to stop and ask for directions to the Heber Railroad. You would think that when a town has something touristy like that they would put signs on main street to direct you to the site but no such luck. We got to the railroad yard unload the stroller and then went to get in line for the train. They had a couple of open cars but those all filled up first so we had to sit inside a car which was probably better so that our kids didn’t lean to far over the side. The train ride lasted about 30 minutes which was just perfect so that the kids didn’t get too bored of sitting. After the train ride, they gave you a map that you had to get stamped for a special prize when all four stamps were filled. The four areas were a storytelling tent, and imagination station with bubbles, train tracks, and coloring, A picture with Sir Topham Hat, and finally the gift shop. The first three were fine but the gift shop was a nightmare trying to find either something cheap so everyone could get something or something that they could all agree on. We ended up getting a frame and two books. The kids really had a good time and we planned it perfect because as we were leaving the rain clouds moved in. So we ate lunch in the back of the suburban instead of a area park and then headed for home with everyone but Cayden napping.

Ashton’s preschool graduation

Just to let Jennise know I actually sat down at the computer and starting posting when your comment came. Sorry about the delay. May is a crazy month and with my little sister due anytime now we are just trying to get everything in order at work for when my mom goes down to help. Ashton had preschool graduation on May 19th. Everytime Cortney went to take a picture someone would get in the way. It was a cute graduation. They did the pledge of allegiance and sang a couple songs and then the head teacher handed out certificates, hats and little scrapbooks of their field trips throughout the year. The little girl receiving her stuff from the teacher is Tracy haircut lady’s daughter, Kimber. Kimber came over to play a couple of weeks and before she came she told her parents and siblings that her and Ashton were going on a date. It was so cute, so she is Ashton’s first date. We signed up the twins for Ashton’s old preschool and Ashton has decided that he would rather stay in preschool than go to kindergarten in the fall. I guess I have my work cut out for me this summer to try and convince him that kindergarten really is fun. Enjoy the pics and I will try and stay updated but no guarantees.

Too much time/no life

When I was posting our trip to the airplane musuem, my red eye reducing stuff wasn’t working so I sent the pics to Emily to see what she could do. I got the two pics back with the red eye fixed and another pic with a surprise. She prefaced the pic with saying this
“BTW, I’ve heard that cameras pick up things that the naked eye can’t see…..”Children of the AFB
I apologize to my cousin Kurt that Harvey had to be involved in this.

Final Soccer Game

So we had Ashton’s final soccer game last Saturday and it was rough. We only had 6 kids show up so all 6 kids had to play the whole game. The other team had 12+ kids show up so they kept subbing every 7 minutes. We are suppose to play 2 15 minute half with a 10 minute half time. No one really keeps track and by about halfway through the sceond half(already 30 minutes into the game) our team was exhausted. They would just stand and watch the other team run for the ball. We were glad when they finally ended it. Ephraim City rec got every kid a medal. Ashton is so proud of his. They took a team picture after the game. We were suppose to have 18 kids on the team but never had more than 7-8 came to each game. gym and soccer 012gym and soccer 014

Airplanes and family

On the 25th my cousin from Michigan, his wife and son came to Utah for a visit.  My grandma in Kaysville was having a family get together for them so they could see a lot of the family without having to travel too  much, so my mom booked us a hotel room and we went up for the weekend.  Because Cortney hasn’t had many Saturdays to work on our yard because of the bad weather he decided to stay home so it was just me and the kids and thankfully Aunt Emily.  My mom got us a family suite so Emily stayed in one room and the kids and I were in the other room.  We went swimming a couple of times.  The first time we went was in the morning after they had filled the pool so it was very warm, the second time was later that night and it was cold so the kids didn’t last long.  In between I decided that it would be fun to take the kids to the Hill AFB airplane museum.  Crazy, wasn’t I?  Well my aunt Trish and cousin Kurt’s family decided that it would be fun for them as well so they tagged along, thank goodness.  My kids weren’t as well behaved as I would have like them to be so it was nice to have some more adults to watch the kids.  Here are the pictures.  Some of the really close up ones are pics that Ashton insisted on taking with the camera.  The other little kid is my cousin’s son, Harvey.  He is a couple of months younger than Dylan.
