Last year we promised Ashton that we would go to Thomas the Train in Heber City this year, partly because it would be the last year that half of our family would be able to ride for free. Well funny how things never work out for us. Thomas changed the ages from 2 and under for free to 2 and up for 16.00 so we had to pay for everyone but Dylan. I felt bad spending so much money but we had been talking about for awhile and I decided that since the kids had been cleaning Cortney’s office when the regular cleaning lady was out of town that they could use part of that money to pay for their tickets. I had hoped that it would be a teaching tool that we have to save up our money to do special stuff like Thomas Well it was the Friday after Ashton’s graduation and before Memorial Day. Cortney took the day off and we left Ephraim at 8:30 am so we could make our 11:15 am train ride. We got to Heber and had to stop and ask for directions to the Heber Railroad. You would think that when a town has something touristy like that they would put signs on main street to direct you to the site but no such luck. We got to the railroad yard unload the stroller and then went to get in line for the train. They had a couple of open cars but those all filled up first so we had to sit inside a car which was probably better so that our kids didn’t lean to far over the side. The train ride lasted about 30 minutes which was just perfect so that the kids didn’t get too bored of sitting. After the train ride, they gave you a map that you had to get stamped for a special prize when all four stamps were filled. The four areas were a storytelling tent, and imagination station with bubbles, train tracks, and coloring, A picture with Sir Topham Hat, and finally the gift shop. The first three were fine but the gift shop was a nightmare trying to find either something cheap so everyone could get something or something that they could all agree on. We ended up getting a frame and two books. The kids really had a good time and we planned it perfect because as we were leaving the rain clouds moved in. So we ate lunch in the back of the suburban instead of a area park and then headed for home with everyone but Cayden napping.
